Environmental Champion: GAIL MORRIS

The Ynysowen Project is now working towards the Green Dragon Environmental Standard. There are five levels of standard, at the moment we are working towards level two.

How to Achieve the Green Dragon Environmental Standard

Green Dragon is all about taking that first step and making an initial commitment to environmental management. For large and small organisations, in any industry or business sector, you gain recognition for effective environmental management at any of five different levels that can be geared to a pace and ability to suit individual organisations.

There are 5 stages each incorporating the key elements of Planning, Taking Action, Checking Progress and Reviewing Achievements to realise Continual Environmental Improvement.

Assessment involves completion of an application form and an annual site audit by a Green Dragon Environmental Standard Authorised Auditor. Any organisation in Wales can apply and funding may be available to help reach the standard.

Everyone that achieves any level of Green Dragon receives a certificate demonstrating their progress and commitment to environmental management. Organisations that reach levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 can display the Green Dragon logo on their stationary and marketing materials in recognition of their achievements and at level 3 and above are awarded the Green Dragon plaque.

Level Two
Understanding Environmental Obligations

Level two focuses on understanding relevant environmental legal obligations and taking action to ensure that these obligations are met. Companies will already have achieved the requirements of level 1 and will build on these to work towards a more robust environmental management system, appropriate for both larger and smaller organisations. If you would like any more information please visit the website www.greendragonwales.com.

Gail would like to invite members of the community who are on state benefits to call in and pick up low energy bulbs. At the moment only two per person are allowed to be allocated.
